Safe DDS adopted by ESA & GMV for next-generation space launchers – eProsima to present at EDHPC 2025

eProsima is proud to announce that Safe DDS has been adopted by GMV in an R&D project funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) under the Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP).

The joint work, detailed in a paper co-authored by GMV and eProsima, explores the feasibility of using DDS over Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) in launcher avionics. The study compares multiple DDS implementations and highlights Safe DDS’s strengths:

  • ISO 26262 ASIL D certified for functional safety
  • Deterministic communication over TSN
  • Modular, portable architecture built for safety-critical environments
  • Seamless integration with Fast DDS, widely used in robotics and aerospace

The paper, “Data Distribution Service (DDS) over Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) for Launchers”, will be presented at the European Data Handling & Data Processing Conference (EDHPC 2025).

📢 eProsima’s CEO, Jaime Martin, is one of the authors and will attend EDHPC to present the work alongside GMV.

💡 To help engineers get started, eProsima has also published complete tutorials on Safe DDS with TSN and custom transports:

This project demonstrates the growing role of Safe DDS in space systems, where deterministic, safe, and scalable communication is non-negotiable.
