Madrid, Spain – eProsima is proud to announce its collaboration with the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) on developing the communication architecture for high-performance autonomous racing vehicles.
Designed for extreme real-time conditions, the communication architecture enables ultra-low-latency data exchange across distributed system components in high-speed autonomous racing environments. This collaboration leverages eProsima’s Fast DDS to ensure reliable, high-throughput performance under the most demanding operational scenarios.

At the core of this collaboration is a communication system engineered to handle high volumes of data through a dual-subsystem approach:
- The high-throughput subsystem, built with ROS 2 and fine-tuned using Fast DDS, ingests massive amounts of sensor data at high frequencies. It processes data from multiple 4K cameras, LiDARs, and other high-bandwidth perception sensors to create a real-time, richly detailed understanding of the racing environment. The system's ability to efficiently manage and stream large data sets is made possible through Fast DDS’s capabilities like data sharing and zero-copy transport, ensuring minimal latency and maximal throughput.
- Complementing this, a low-throughput subsystem, developed directly with Fast DDS, handles lower-frequency, lower-bandwidth tasks. This layered architecture optimizes system performance and scalability while preserving modularity and flexibility.
Thanks to this robust design, TII’s autonomous vehicles can reliably process and transmit critical information in real-time, supporting safe and efficient high-speed operation on the track.
